Woman 'saves a fortune' sleeping overnight in Dublin Airport

One Irish woman has claimed she 'saved a fortune' by sleeping overnight in Dublin Airport instead of booking into a hotel.

Maura Dore, from Kildare, arrived at the airport around 12 hours early for her flight to London, which was scheduled for 7.30am the next morning.

Many passengers travelling through Dublin Airport recently have experienced long queues at security, causing some to miss their flights - but Maura wasn't leaving anything up to chance.

She explained that in order to get public transport to reach the airport in time she would have to get up extremely early, so she opted to sleep over in the terminal building instead.

Maura filmed her sleepover in the airport in a vlog for TikTok, saying in the clip: "It is currently a quarter to eight in the evening. My flight is not until half seven tomorrow morning.

"But I am at the airport 12 hours early because if not, I would have to wake up at 1am in the morning to get my flight.

"So, I actually get more sleep this way and less queuing time."

She had to wait until the day of her flight to check in, which meant she had to hang around until after midnight to go through security.

Maura showed where she was initially camped out in Terminal 1 before she went through security, saying: "I honestly can't complain, it's quite comfortable, glad I've got my blanket and my little pillow.

"It's only an hour and then I can go check in, get one of the sleeping pods and actually get a good six hours sleep."

Once she was through security she made her way to the circular pods opposite Starbucks in Terminal 1 where she bedded down for the night with a pillow and a blanket, aiming to get six hours sleep.

"I have saved myself a fortune on a hotel," she said, filming her sleeping arrangements. "This right here is going to be mine for the night."

Maura's video has gained over 260k views on TikTok but received mixed opinions from viewers.

One revealed they also used this hack while traveling abroad, writing: "I’ve slept at so many airports over the years while backpacking haha worth it for the early flights!"

Another said: "I'm doing this next week."

However, one person thought it wasn't worth the effort, writing: "All this for a flight to the UK! If everyone done this, it would cause chaos."

Meanwhile one commented on the shape of the sleeping pods, saying: "They don't look comfortable at all."

And one man simply said: "I’d rather get up at 1am."
