Woman's message to man after surprise on Arriva bus

An elderly woman got a pleasant surprise on her bus ride home through Wallasey.

She was returning home after visiting a friend one afternoon when a stranger's kind gesture made her heart warm.

The Wirral woman took to social media in an effort to find the "well-mannered young man" from the Arriva bus and thank both him and his parents.

As she boarded the 433 bus on the Wirral side of the Kingsway Tunnel shortly after 5pm, the woman noticed there was nowhere for her to sit.

But the kind young man leapt to her aid by giving up his seat.

The woman assumed he was about to get off at the next stop, but instead he stayed standing until another seat was free.

Writing on Facebook, she said: "I have just got on a 433 on the way home from visiting a friend at 5.11pm.

"I got on the first stop after the tunnel.

"When I went to sit down there weren't any seats available and a very well mannered young man stood up and gave me his seat.

"I thought he was getting off the next stop but he wasn't. He stood all the way to Poulton/Liscard Road until there was an empty seat to sit down.

"I was really surprised for a young person to do this for me as I am a pensioner.

"This young man was still on the bus when I got off at Earlston Road.

"If his parents read this which I hope they do all I can say he is a credit to you. Thank You X"
