Woman’s legs amputated after car rammed into pedestrians in Modena crash

  • Eight people were injured, four critically, after a driver ploughed into pedestrians in the Italian city of Modena on Saturday.
  • The driver, identified by police as 31-year-old Salim El Koudri, was known to local authorities for having mental health issues, specifically schizoid disorders.
  • One woman needed both of her legs amputated after being pinned against a shop window during the incident.
  • El Koudri allegedly attempted to flee the scene but was detained by citizens and police, and is currently being questioned by investigators.
