Woman's cooking hack makes 'fast and easy' eggs without saucepan or boiling water

A poached egg is a great addition to your breakfast, but home cooks might avoid it since it's easy to both under and overcook.

Handily, a woman has shared a speedy poached egg hack that requires no saucepan or boiling water - and viewers are impressed.

What you will need, however, is a bowl and a microwave according to TikTok user Dana, who posts under the username @danarebeccadesigns.

Her clip has been viewed more than 1.3million times and has left several people praising her simple technique, writes the Express.

She said: "I recently learned how to poach an egg, and I thank whoever it was on TikTok.

"Break an egg into a small Pyrex bowl, add a little bit of water - just enough to cover the yolk - and put it in the microwave."

Rather than guessing when your egg will be ready in the pan, you can leave it in the microwave from 36 to 45 seconds.

Using a slotted spoon, she removed the egg from the dish, before placing it on a plate and cutting it open to reveal the perfectly runny yolk.

The TikTok user said that her mum was "obsessed" with the hack, and so were viewers as over 20,000 liked the clip and almost 250 took to the comments.

One commenter wrote: "Just tried it after watching this and they came out great! Fast and easy. Thank you as well."

"Add a drop of white vinegar and it keeps the egg white from floating around," added a second while a third said: "I saw this too - AMAZING HACK!!!"
