The de facto husband of a woman found dead in a home southeast of Brisbane is being questioned as part of an investigation police expect may take some time to resolve.
The 56-year-old's body was found at a home in Victoria Point about 2am on Wednesday. Police are not sure if the death is suspicious.
There are no current domestic violence orders between the pair, but police attended the home a month ago at the woman's request.
That interaction is now the subject of an internal review, Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham says.
Police say the man called emergency services early on Wednesday morning seeking assistance before paramedics found the woman dead on a bed.
"Observed on the lower level was a large amount of blood and the victim did have some injuries to her face," Det Supt Massingham said.
"The 58-year-old male has been assisting police. He is voluntarily with us (and) he's provided us with a version of his observations last night."
An autopsy is expected to be carried out on Thursday.
