Woman 'retched' after unwrapping ASOS shorts with huge brown stain on - and gets apology

When you order things online, you probably expect them to arrive in tip-top condition and ready to wear that evening if you're in need of something quick. That's why one woman was left horrified when her son ordered some shorts from ASOS, expecting tip-top quality and received a little more than he bargained for - but not in a good way.

Journalist Suzanne Baum headed to Instagram to share the post which showed the ASOS shorts - which came soiled with faeces. Suzanne posted a trigger warning at the start of the post as the stain was so unsightly, and it also made the shorts unwearable.

In the post, she wrote: "Dear @asos as a hugely loyal customer for years I have always encouraged my older kids to use your website & spend their money wisely!

"My 21-year-old just received an order for some shorts. On opening the plastic sealed package we could smell poo and there is the evidence on his order!

"Utterly gobsmacked/retching/in shock! You have no customer service anymore and the virtual online robot is useless - hence the fact I’ve had to try & reach out to someone on here!"

Commenters were equally as horrified by the unwanted discovery, with some commenting shocked face emojis and vomit emojis at the vile photograph.

One wrote: "Awful! And no customer service!"

Another said: "Omg I am laughing and vomiting at the same time! That's horrendous!"

Someone wrote: "That’s disgusting. They have just lost a customer in me as well as a pair of shoes have only lasted one wear and no response from them!"

One Instagrammer said that they owe her a huge apology, commenting: "Omg I'm in shock. I hope they respond to you with a huge apology!"

"This is vile", one fumed.

A spokesperson for ASOS said: "We apologise unreservedly for the experience Ms Baum and her son had when shopping with ASOS.

"It’s clear this item fell far short of the standard we would expect to deliver. We’re investigating the issue with our warehouse team as a matter of urgency and have issued a full refund alongside an ASOS voucher as a gesture of goodwill."
