Woman pronounced dead after police and fire crews called to River Trent

A woman was pronounced dead after police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the River Trent.

The woman was recovered from the water at Cromwell Lock, just off the A1, on Sunday afternoon, February 27.

Police say she was pronounced dead at the scene and her next of kin have been informed.

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said: "Emergency services were called to reports of concerns for a woman's safety at Cromwell Lock, Great North Road, Cromwell, at around 2.15pm on Sunday, February 27.

The police, fire and rescue and ambulance services attended the incident.

Detective Sergeant Andrea Brown, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Our thoughts are with the woman's family at this sad time."
