A woman was savagely beaten in a random horror St Patrick’s night attack and her family fears the shocking incident will scar her both physically and mentally.
Corina Flood (44), who is originally from Finglas, was returning back from a day trip to Dun Laoghaire with her daughter Nadine and two friends after celebrating the public holiday.
While they were on the DART, just before it pulled into Shankill Dart Station at 7.55pm, a male, described as being stocky and in his 30s, approached Corina’s male friend and his girlfriend, offering cans of beer and drugs.

However, they both refused and the male then turned aggressive and started attacking the male and his girlfriend.
The male, who did not want to be identified, said he was knocked unconscious during the assault, received a broken nose and fractured ribs while his girlfriend also received facial injuries.
It was while they both were being attacked, that Corina tried to intervene and protect them.
“The male then punched her in the face, breaking several of her teeth,” Nadine told our sister paper The Star.
“Everyone was screaming and mam took kicks to the head too,” she added.
Corina was brought to Dublin’s Mater Hospital for treatment and on Monday underwent an MRI scan of her head.
“Mam went to hospital on the night and was later discharged but is back in again as more of her teeth are falling out,” Nadine said.
“She is traumatised and this has knocked her confidence. We are afraid it will scar her physically and mentally.”
“The attack on all three went on for about ten minutes in front of families with young children. It was horrific and so scary. People were shouting ‘Stop, Stop,” Nadine, who had her three year old son with her, said.
“My son didn’t see it thankfully as we were sitting further down the carriage. This male deliberately approached my mam’s friend and his girlfriend. He only stopped when the train pulled into Shankill Station and then ran off.”
“We were on an enjoyable day out for St Patrick’s Day and then it turned to horror,” she continued.
And in a bid to help with Corina’s medical expenses to repair her teeth, Nadine has set up a Go Fund Me called ‘Please help my mam to get her teeth fixed.”
In a statement to The Star, An Garda Siochana confirmed gardai attended the incident of an assault which occurred at Shankill Dart Station on Thursday, March 17.
“A male in his 20s, a female in her 20s and a female in her 40s were taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for non-life threatening injuries,” the statement confirmed.
No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
