A woman was treated for head and leg injuries after she was struck by a car while crossing a road in North Shields.
Emergency crews attended the scene on Ancroft Avenue in North Shields following reports shortly before 3.20pm today (October 17).
Officers from Northumbria Police found a woman with head and leg injuries. She was treated by paramedics at the scene.

The incident led to some disruption on the roads in the vicinity as the road was subsequently closed while emergency services were present.
Photographs from the scene showed a large police presence as offers assisted with diverting traffic away from Ancroft Avenue. Paramedics and one ambulance crew were also present.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 3.20pm today (Monday), we received a report of a collision involving a pedestrian on Ancroft Avenue, North Shields.
“It was reported a woman had been crossing the road and was struck by a car. She is currently being treated at the scene by paramedics after suffering an injury to her head and leg.
“The road is currently closed while emergency services are in attendance. Drivers are asked to use an alternate route.”
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Walton Avenue shortly after 3pm this afternoon.
"We dispatched one ambulance crew and a rapid response paramedic and transported one patient to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital for further treatment."
