Police were called to a report of an attempted robbery outside the school on Heron Street in Oldham, at around 5.45pm on Tuesday (January 3).

Enquiries have so far established the victim, a woman in her 20s, was approached on the street after leaving the school by two unknown males, dressed in black with their faces covered up.

The pair went on to demand her car keys while holding a hammer before assaulting her when she refused. They then ran away from the scene in an unknown direction, police said.

The victim has been left 'shaken' but did not sustain any serious injuries in the attempted robbery. An increased number of police patrols have been introduced in the locality and a full investigation has been launched.

Detectives are currently following up on a number of enquiries in an attempt to identify the offenders and anyone with any information, or anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have CCTV, Dashcam or doorbell footage, is asked to contact Police on 0161 8569066 or 101, quoting log number 2401 of the 3rd January 2023.
