A woman died in a two-car crash near a town centre, police have confirmed. Officers are appealing for witnesses following the fatal crash between a silver Hyundai i10 and a white Nissan van.
The crash occurred on the A4136 near Staunton Road in Monmouth on Wednesday, November 16. The woman who died was aged 94 and had been at the wheel of the Hyundai.
Officers from Gwent Police attended the incident, along with the Welsh Ambulance Service and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, at around 4.50pm. Paramedics confirmed the elderly driver had died at the scene.
The woman's family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers. A Gwent Police spokesman said: "We’re asking for anyone who may have witnessed the collision – or any motorists with dashcam footage who were using the A4136 between 4.30pm and 5pm – to contact us.
