A woman who was killed in a village in Leicestershire at the weekend has been named by police as 55-year-old Christine Bauld.
Gregor Bauld, 22, who is reported to be her son, was charged with murder and possession of a bladed article, specifically a kitchen knife, and was due to appear at Leicester crown court on Wednesday.
Police were called to a house in the village of Burbage near Hinckley at 11.20am on Sunday morning by East Midlands ambulance service.
Christine Bauld, known as Tina, was found seriously injured and despite the efforts of paramedics was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gregor Bauld appeared at Leicester magistrates court on Tuesday, where he spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth. The relationship between Gregor and Christine Bauld was not specified in court.
After the hearing, officers said: “This is an extremely difficult time for Bauld’s family and specialist officers are supporting them.”
Flowers had been left outside the family’s home in a cul-de-sac in Burbage, where the incident took place.
