THANE: A 28-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide after jumping into the Masunda lake, officials informed Thursday.
Civic rescue officials informed the woman, a resident of nearby Khartan road, arrived at the lakefront around midnight and jumped in the waters much to the horror of few bystanders who alerted the police while few jumped in to save her.
"Some locals managed to bring the woman out of the waters following which she was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared her brought dead," informed Yasin Tadvi, chief at the regional disaster management cell, Thane.
The police have registered an accidental death and investigation to know the trigger for her step is on.
