A man has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after an elderly pedestrian was hit by a van in Salford. It happened in Swinton shortly before 1pm this afternoon (Thursday) this afternoon.
The van collided with a woman in her eighties. on Stafford Road. Emergency services were called and paramedics and police both attended the scene. Those living nearby said the road was cordoned off.
The woman had suffered a leg injury and was taken to hospital following treatment at the scene, the ambulance service said. Her current condition isn't known.

Following the incident, a man was arrested on suspicion of "being in charge of a motor vehicle on a road or other public place with a specified controlled drug in the body" Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed.
A spokesperson for the Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 12:50pm to Stafford Road, Swinton, to reports of a road traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
"We sent an ambulance to the scene where a female patient in her 80s received treatment for a leg injury before being taken to hospital."
