Woman in 'critical' condition as police appeal for Paisley road crash witnesses

Police are appealing for witnesses to a road crash in Paisley last month.

The collision took place on Gauze Street at Smithhills Street in the town on Friday, December, 30.

Around 9.30pm, a 26-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man were struck by a Seat Ibiza car being driven by a 20-year-old man.

Police and ambulance crews attended and the woman was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where staff describe her condition as critical.

The 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with road traffic offences and later released pending further enquiries.

Sergeant Kenny Maleney of the road policing unit said: “Enquiries are continuing into this crash and I would appeal for any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police, to contact us.

“I am also keen to obtain any dashcam from that area around the time of the crash.

“Anyone with information should contact officers by calling 101.”
