A terrified woman hid in her neighbour’s garden and outbuilding listening to her jealous and drunk ex-partner tell her he was going to “slaughter” her and her family. Shanice Raven was frozen in terror at her home in Cardiff while Karl Taylor rummaged through knives in her kitchen and also told her he was going to “light up” her house in a drawn-out act of rage.
Father-of-one Taylor, who had a difficult three-year relationship with Ms Raven until the end of 2021, had arrived at Ms Raven’s home on the evening of January 28 having grown jealous of her, prosecutor Tom Stanway told a hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday. The pair drank late into the night and then into the following morning with Ms Raven’s friend, but her friend left at 8am on January 29 and Taylor and Ms Raven began arguing.
Taylor, 25, refused to leave the property and became verbally aggressive, telling Ms Raven he was going to set fire to the house and kill them both. Ms Raven ran into the neighbour’s garden and then hid in an outbuilding.
