Nearly seven years ago, Melbourne men Glen Cassidy and Michael Caposiena killed each other in a shooting-stabbing incident.

Now the woman who connected them has been found guilty of murder.

Biannca Edmunds, 34, was convicted by a jury on Saturday after prosecutors argued she had directed, encouraged or assisted Cassidy to murder Mr Caposiena.

Cassidy - Edmunds husband - fatally shot Mr Caposiena - Edmunds former boyfriend - outside the front of Mr Caposiena's Westmeadows home in March 2016.

He then died from stab wounds suffered in an altercation with Mr Caposiena.

They alleged a child custody dispute was at the centre of the murder.

This was Edmunds' third trial. A jury at her first trial in June could not reach a unanimous verdict. A second trial was dismissed in August because of an issue with closing arguments.

At that trial, Edmunds mother Ellen Edmunds said her daughter called her crying and sobbing over the news the men had died.

She told her mother that Cassidy wasn't supposed to die, and also commented that "all of her troubles were over", Ms Edmunds said.

Cassidy and Mr Caposiena had spoken through a locked security door on the night of their deaths.

Jurors at an earlier trial were told the door was unlocked when Cassidy asked to shake Mr Caposiena's hand.

Instead he went inside and pointed the gun at his victim's head.

Mr Caposiena, who had earlier answered the door armed with a knife, had been holding it against Cassidy's abdomen when the fatal shot was fired.

Edmunds will face a pre-sentence hearing at a later date.
