Woman gives birth at Notting Hill Carnival

A mother has been rushed to hospital after giving birth to a child at Notting Hill Carnival.

London Ambulance Services were called to reports of a person in labour “within the footprint” of the street carnival at 6.45pm on Sunday.

“We treated an adult and baby at the scene and took them to hospital as a priority,” a spokesperson told the Standard.

A video posted to social media shows a number of officers circling around a woman who is kneeling on the street, groaning, while throngs of people look on.

Some can be heard asking: “Is she having a baby?” while others try and speak to officers.

The incident comes after two people were injured after a bus shelter collapsed onto a crowd of revellers.

Shocking footage has captured the moment a group of revellers destroyed a Kensal Rise bus stop while dancing on its roof

Meanwhile, an investigation is underway after a police horse died after suddenly collapsing on Sunday evening.

On Monday, young and old descended on the streets of west London as Notting Hill Carnival continued to turn the area into a party for the first time since the pandemic.

The Adults Day parade saw many attendees dressed in colourful, sparkling costumes to match the dancers.

The Metropolitan Police said that by 7am on Monday there had been 76 arrests for “a variety of different offences”.
