Woman fumes after family forced her to sit on the floor all of Christmas Day

It's not uncommon for Christmas to be a tight squeeze in the house sometimes as extended families all pile in to celebrate the big day together. While it's not the most comfortable of situations, the special gathering only happens once a year and is not enough to spoil the festive celebrations, the Mirror reports.

However, one woman has taken to Mumsnet to reveal how upset she was on Christmas Day when her family had her sit on the floor the entire day and never offered her a turn on the sofa. The furious woman complained that they kept the 'comfortable seats' in her parent's house to themselves all day.

In the post, she explained: "Not sure if I'm overreacting but I just feel so hurt. When I spend Christmas Day at my parents there aren't enough chairs in the living room for everyone.

"This year I was left sitting on the floor all day. I'd hoped when we all went back into the living room after Christmas lunch I might get the opportunity to sit on the sofa but everyone else took their seats where they were previously leaving me to sit on the floor again.

"My sister, brother-in-law, mother, and aunt are all fit and able-bodied and just as capable as me as sitting on the floor, but they just kept the comfortable seats for themselves all day. " Looking for some advice, she questioned: "Am I being unreasonable to feel so disappointed that on Christmas Day my family were just happy to see me on the floor all day?"

Since uploading the post, over 190 comments have been left by Mumsnet users with the majority not sympathising with the woman as they argued she could have easily fixed the situation herself. One user wrote: "You are being unreasonable for not actually using your big girl words."

Another person questioned: "Why didn't you say something? In my family I'd be like 'oi time to swap seats sis'."

A third remarked: "Why didn't you speak up? You could have kicked your sister off the sofa."

Someone else commented : "Isn't the standard procedure in those circumstances to grab a dining chair and bring it into the living room?"

Another person agreed: "Yes, you'd normally bring a chair through from elsewhere. I wouldn't sit on the floor all day."
