A woman who is mildly allergic to avocados has been forced to ban members of her household from bringing the fruit onto the premises - because her husband keeps forgetting about her allergy.
In a post online, the woman claimed to have oral allergy syndrome - which the NHS states is caused by allergy antibodies mistaking certain proteins in fresh fruits, nuts or vegetables for pollen - for which avocado is the main culprit, so she has to avoid eating it as while it won't kill her, it does bring her out in hives.
But her husband doesn't seem to have gotten the memo on the woman's allergies and has accidentally given her food with avocado in it on multiple occasions, only remembering far too late that she can't actually eat the soft fruit.
So now, to stop her husband from making her life more difficult, the woman has banned him from ever buying avocados again.

The woman claimed in a post on Reddit: "My husband and I have been together for five years. I am also pregnant with our first baby. My husband loves avocado. Which I get, and have allowed in our house this whole time despite being allergic to it.
"It won’t kill me but I have oral allergy syndrome and the main culprit is avocado. I get hives when I even eat avocado oil, and sometimes when using any skin care products with avocado in them.
"My husband walked into the bedroom tonight to give me a taste of the salad he just made. He didn’t actually give me a bite with avocado so I didn’t think anything of it until my gums started burning.
"I walked into the kitchen and saw the grocery receipt which said had two avocados on it. I asked him if he put avocado in the salad and he said 'oh yeah don’t freak out, I totally forgot I put avocado in there.'
"The first time [he did it] was when he cooked tuna steaks with avocado oil and my entire arm broke out in hives.
"I took two allergy tablets and am now waiting for my gums to stop feeling like hot fire but in the middle of yelling at him, I told him no more f***ng avocados in this house. He can eat them at restaurants and literally everywhere else but if he can’t keep it from me then they’re banned.
"He just said he was sorry he forgot. I feel like this is my only solution."
Commenters on the Reddit post were quick to assure the woman she wasn't in the wrong for her decision, but encouraged her to talk to her husband to try and get him to remember her allergy.
One person said: "You’re allergic. How hard is it to remember not to give you something to which are allergic?
"I’m allergic to several foods. My husband, who often can’t recall anything I tell him for more than 10 minutes, always remembers my food allergies and is very careful regarding them."
While another added: "I believe that is considered a severe allergy. You know it can get worse, he can have his avocados when he’s out to lunch etc, but they should not be in the home ever."
And a third wrote: "Your request seems reasonable if he keeps being negligent."
