A woman was hit with a £1,000 fine for not cleaning up dog poo from her own back garden, which one nieghbour likened to living next to an "open sewer".
Alison Dawson, ignored numerous notices from Durham County Council to clean up the stinking mess before she was brought to court.
After residents first made their complaints about the piles of poo being “an eyesore”, she was served an abatement notice.
