A woman fell from a bridge on the M1 near Leeds, prompting a huge emergency response on Friday night.
The major motorway was shut in both directions between Junction 44 and Junction 42 as West Yorkshire Police attended the scene on the busy carriageway, last night after 9.30pm. The M621 and entry slip was also closed in both directions as a result of the incident.
A police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 9.30pm last night (Friday, November 25) a closure was put in place on the M1 between junctions 44 and 42 after a police patrol officer found a woman on the wrong side of a bridge on Sharp Lane, Robin Hood, Leeds.
"A short time later, the woman fell from the bridge and was taken to hospital by air ambulance. Her injuries are not described as life-threatening. The motorway was fully reopened at 12.44am."
