A young mum has slated her local McDonald’s after they sold her an “absolutely appalling” chicken burger which she claims was so bad her partner was forced to spit it out in the car after just one bite before having a disagreement with the manager about whether it was cooked or not. Amara Keseru, 18, went to the McDonald’s restaurant in Parc Trostre in Llanelli on Sunday with her partner Josh and some friends.

It was then that Amara’s partner Josh bit into his Chicken Legend and realised something was wrong. “He opened up the box and took a bite out of the chicken burger and straightaway he said it didn’t taste right,” said Amara. “Luckily he spat it straight back out. The chicken was pink and so was the juice that came off it. Thankfully he didn’t swallow it.”

Amara, who lives in nearby Kidwelly, took the food back to the restaurant to complain and was told there was no issue with the way the burger had been cooked and prepared. “We went back and told the manager that it wasn’t cooked and she was saying that it was,” she said. "We got some money back in the end for the burger but it put us off eating the rest of the food.
"Nobody really touched anything else." She added: "It’s put me off – I won’t be going to that McDonald’s again.” Amara, who said she was thankful that she didn't give any of the food to her young son, took pictures of the bitten-into Chicken Legend and shared her disgust on social media with others quick to agree that the item looked far from appetising.
Amara’s concerns and the images taken of the burger were put to McDonald’s who reiterated their belief that no raw chicken was served to any customers. The fast-food food giant insist that their chicken products are pre-cooked elsewhere before they arrive at various restaurants where they are then deep fried on-site and served to the public.
A spokesman for McDonald's said: “We are sorry to hear that this customer was unhappy with their experience. Food safety is of the utmost importance to us and we place great emphasis on quality control, following rigorous standards in order to avoid any imperfections. As soon as the team were made aware they conducted a restaurant-level investigation and concluded that the product had been reheated fully. Nonetheless the customer was offered a refund and a replacement product and these were accepted.”
