Woman arrested after man assaulted outside Bold Street Subway

A 25-year-old woman has been arrested following a serious assault on Bold Street in the early hours of the morning.

Police were called just after 4.15am today, May 6, after a man was found unconscious on the ground.

It was reported that the 22-year-old, from Wirral, had been assaulted by a gang of two men and a woman outside Subway. He suffered a serious head injury and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The woman, who comes from London, was arrested nearby was taken to a police station for questioning by detectives.

Police have now appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who saw the offenders running away from the scene, to come forward. They also want to talk to taxi drivers from the nearby Hackney cab rank on Hanover Street, as they could have vital dashcam footage, which could help identify the two men who remain at large.

Detective Inspector Alan Nuttall, said: “The 22-year-old victim was with a friend when the assault took place and we are working to establish exactly what has happened.

"Forensic examinations are currently ongoing at the scene and we will be reviewing CCTV from the area, but I would also like to appeal to anyone who was in the area and has any information, or mobile phone/dashcam footage that may be able to assist our investigation to come forward.

"We appeal to anyone who has information to come forward as soon as possible. If you're a taxi driver who was in the area of Hanover Street at the time of the incident at around 1am- let us know if you have dashcam footage which could help further our investigation."
