A 31-year-old woman and her two minor daughters, aged six and two, were killed, while her husband was severely injured when the car they were travelling in crashed into a truck coming from the opposite direction on Sompura Clover Leaf Junction on NICE Road in the wee hours of Tuesday, October 3.
After the collision, the car caught fire, and the truck driver lost control and the vehicle overturned.
Sindhu, 31, and her two-year-old child died on the spot, while her other daughter died in the hospital. Her husband, Mahendran S., 35, a native of Salem, has been admitted to the hospital.
The family had rented a car for an outing and was heading from Mysuru Road towards Kanakapura Road when the accident occurred around 2.05 a.m.
The Talaghattapura traffic police have registered a case against Mahendran on charges of rash and negligent driving and causing death due to negligence. After an initial probe, it’s suspected that Mahendran was tired and dozing off, which could have been the reason for the accident. However, the FSL team is investigating further to ascertain the exact reason for the accident.
