Woman and child injured in serious collision in Dublin city

Gardai have launched a witness appeal after a woman in her 40s and girl were injured in a serious collision with a car.

The woman sustained 'serious injuries' and both her and the girl were taken to hospital.

The collision between the car and the two pedestrians occurred on Merrion Road in Ballsbridge on February 25, 2022.

A Garda spokesman said: "Gardai are appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision that occurred on the Merrion Road in Ballsbridge, Dublin on Friday, 25th February 2022.

"The collision involving a car and two pedestrians occurred at approximately 7.05pm. A woman, aged in her 40s, was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment for serious injuries following the collision. At this time, she remains in a stable condition.

"A female child also received medical attention at Crumlin’s Children Hospital for non-life threatening injuries."

Gardai are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

The spokesman added: "Any person who was on the Merrion Road, in particular near the Merrion Gates, on 25th, February 2022 between 6.50pm – 7.10pm and who may have camera (including dash cam) footage is asked to make this available to investigating Gardai.

"Investigations are ongoing," the spokesman said.
