A 24-year-old woman who subsisted on a diet of cereals, sandwiches, and pasta has had to re-adjust her lifestyle following a shock diagnosis of coeliac disease.
Charlotte Burke was found to have the condition which sees a person's immune system attack their own tissues when they eat gluten in June last year. Since then, she has to re-evaluate her eating habits and lifestyle.
Today, she follows a strict gluten-free diet, but had been suffering with the symptoms such as bloating, flatulence, and constipation since she was 14. As she turned 18, the symptoms got worse and she went to her doctors, where she was given the shock diagnosis.
