Matheus Cunha has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association following Wolves’ 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town on Saturday.
The Brazil international was caught up in a heated scuffle after the Premier League clash at Molineux. Allegedly, Cunha broke the glasses of a member of the visiting side’s security team.
On the final whistle, tempers flared and boos rang out across the stadium as the Old Gold suffered their fourth defeat in a row.
Cunha had levelled for the home side after a comical own-goal from Matt Doherty put the Tractor Boys ahead. However, Jack Taylor’s stoppage time header ensured the points went back to Suffolk.
A series of melees broke out onto the pitch as Rayan Ait-Nouri had to be led down the tunnel by teammate Craig Dawson after an altercation with Wes Burns. The Algerian international was also dismissed.
On Sunday, manager Gary O’Neil was given his marching orders with the club left deep in the relegation mire. The West Midlanders have reportedly agreed a fee for Vitor Pereira to fill the void.

In a statement from the FA Spokesman on X (formerly Twitter), Matheus Cunha will have until December 19 to respond to the charges brought against him.
‘Matheus Cunha has been charged with misconduct following the Premier League match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town on Saturday, 14 December.
‘The forward allegedly acted in an improper manner after the final whistle. He has until Thursday, 19 December, to provide a response.’
The possibility of a lengthy ban comes at the worst possible time for Wolves. A huge clash awaits on gameweek 17 against relegation battlers Leicester City.
In fact, Cunha could miss the whole festive period as the Old Gold try to pull themselves away from trouble. As it stands, the best football betting sites in the UK price Wolves at 17/20 to be relegated.
