Wolves manager Bruno Lage has admitted it will be difficult for his side to keep hold of Ruben Neves this summer.
The midfielder has been linked with a move away from Molineux, having been one of their most impressive performers over the years as they’ve established themselves back in the Premier League. Manchester United are among the sides linked with a move, with Arsenal having also been touted as a possible destination.
Interest from United supporters piqued when the Portuguese played a starring role in Wolves’ win over the Reds at Old Trafford back in January. Neves went on to score the only goal in the game as the visitors dealt a major blow to United’s hopes of finishing fourth.

Wolves themselves have been in the mix for a top-four finish, although look to have fallen out of contention now. The chance to play Champions League football could be a big factor in Neves’ decision over his future, and his manager admits he could face a fight to retain his services.
“From my side he knows my opinion,” Lage said. “I want the best for his career. If he prefers to remain with us (at Wolves), I will for sure be happy and stronger but this is football.
“When you see the level he is playing at. A big team comes with a better offer. We need to analyse what is better for us and the player.
“Ruben is doing a fantastic job at Wolves. It’s hard to find a player like him. A guy who can attack and defend. Normally you have guys who just attack or defend. He can do both. He can score goals and he can assist.”
Neves is under contract with Wolves until 2024, but will no doubt face more speculation over his future as the summer transfer window approaches. With United looking to strengthen their midfield, he could be an option to make the move to Old Trafford.
