Wolverines “don’t care” they aren’t Big Ten favorites

It is hard to think of a team that has dealt with more criticism after winning a national championship than the Michigan Wolverines, maybe Ohio State when they dealt with the Maurice Clarett drama in 2002, but that’s debatable.

Since Michigan won the title, its head coach departed along with the defensive coordinator and strength and conditioning coach. As far as players go, the Wolverines lose almost all of their offensive production from last season, including star quarterback, J.J. McCarthy. I won’t even mention the constant distractions created by the :sign-gat” situation.

With all of this information, sportsbooks have taken notice and despite coming off a national title and three straight Big Ten Championships, the Wolverines have the fourth highest odds to win the conference according to DraftKings.

Donovan Edwards was recently on Jake Butt’s podcast, The L.A.B. and Butt asked if the doubt expressed by the sportsbooks and media was motivating for the team and the Michigan running back responded with “Honestly, I don’t think that we care.”

You have to respect that attitude and it is probably the truth considering the Wolverines weren’t runaway favorites to win the Big Ten the past three years either.
