Wizkid will return to London for the first time since his three-date run at the O2 Arena in 2021, which the Evening Standard described as “a triumph for African music’s increasingly globalised reach”.
Following the release of More Love, Less Ego in November, which featured hits Bad to Me and 2 Sugar, Wizkid (real name Ayodeji Balogun) will perform at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time.
The Nigerian singer’s album Made in Lagos was nominated for a Grammy in 2020 and has more than a billion streams.
It also reached number one on the Billboard World Albums chart and gave Wizkid his first UK top 20 hit.
His single Essence spent 21 weeks in the Official Charts, peaking at 16, and has more than 150 million streams on Spotify.
In a 2019 interview, Wizkid told the Evening Standard: “Music is a universal language. I always felt there is no soul that would listen to Afrobeats and not fall in love with it – only if you don’t love music, and I don’t know any human being that doesn’t love music.”
Now, Wizkid’s London fans can look forward to his first performance in the city in two years this summer.
