Gold Coast coach Stuart Dew is relieved to have selection options as he attempts to bridge the gap between the AFL club's best and worst.
The Suns will likely be without co-captain Jarrod Witts for their Norwood Oval clash with Fremantle on Friday as part of Adelaide's Gather Round.
The ruckman's battled soreness all season and was a late scratching from last week's loss to St Kilda.
He didn't train on Wednesday, Dew reluctant to rush him back given the performance of debutant Ned Moyle against the Saints.
"Some games he's felt really good, and other games he's worked really hard to get through," Dew said.
"We were just trying to get a bit of a circuit-breaker last week; give him that week off and see what impact that had on him.
"We anticipate when we bring him back in, he's at a really good level and not as sore as he has been.
"It (Moyle's ability) does allow us to not take risks with Wittsy and some good exposure for him is great for his development."
The coach hinted at change elsewhere though, with fit-again wing Brandon Ellis likely to return and Mabior Chol, Sean Lemmens, Caleb Graham, Rory Atkins and Sam Day all earning praise for their VFL form.
Gold Coast are 1-3, a defeat of reigning premiers Geelong wedged between blow-out losses to Sydney and St Kilda and a tight loss to Essendon.
"We've shown our best, we've shown our worst - we have to try and close that gap," Dew said.
"There's some good conversations and (selection) headaches.
"We want to pick the most in-form team and there's some players that are in form that we'd like to reward."
The Suns were competitive early against St Kilda, missing chances to build a handy lead early in the second quarter before falling away in a 53-point loss.
"When we haven't got momentum, how do we get it back on our terms?," Dew posed.
"We did invite pressure at different times and can make better decisions with ball in hand."
