
In its latest report, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change – the United Nations expert body of scientists for the assessment of climate change – has warned that it won’t be possible to limit warming to 1.5ºC above pre-industrial level unless fossil fuel infrastructure is phased out rapidly and finance is made available for clean and renewable sources of energy.
“Without immediate and deep emissions reductions across all sectors, limiting global warming to 1.5°C is beyond reach,” the report stated.
