Cricket is not just a game, but an emotion for many people in our country. So, what does it take to become a sports journalist and what are the challenges of this profession? Discussing all this and more, veteran sports journalist Pradeep Magazine was recently seen in conversation with publisher Udayan Mitra at the two-day Times Litfest 2023 which was held in Delhi.
Speaking about commercialisation of sports and the challenges of sports journalism, the veteran journalist said, “It's challenging but there is a lot of glamor attached to the job because you think you will interact with some top stars of your time. So this gives you a big thrill. But as you grow in the profession you realize that sports journalism is not easy-- it's a tough job, your skills, and understanding of the game come into question. In the times of sports becoming so commercialized, it has become even more challenging.”
