On one of the days during Tamil Nadu's Ranji Trophy camp at the MA Chidambaram Stadium 'B' Ground in Chennai, Gurjapneet Singh, picked primarily as a bowler, had an extended batting session and was surprisingly the last player to leave.
TN batting coach Tanveer Jabbar, who sent throwdowns to Gurjapneet, said: "I have set a target for him. I want him to score 30 runs (in an innings)." The southern state side has identified lower-order contribution as an area of focus heading into the new two-phased Ranji season, which will begin on Friday. In their opener, TN will host heavyweights Saurashtra in Elite Group D at the Sri Ramakrishna College Ground in Coimbatore.
