New Rangers striker Kevin Kelsy has revealed Cristiano Ronaldo is the footballer who has inspired him more than any other, while naming Erling Haaland and Romelu Lukaku as the modern frontmen he admires most.
The 21-year-old Venezuelan completed his £9million move to Ibrox from Portland Timbers this week and is preparing for a new chapter in Glasgow after becoming the first player from his country to represent Rangers.
Kelsy arrives with major expectations on his shoulders following his big-money switch, with Rangers looking to their new centre-forward to provide goals and lead the line in Derek McInnes’ side.
And the former Shakhtar Donetsk, FC Cincinnati and Portland striker has offered insight into the players who have shaped his own ambitions in the game.
Portugal superstar Ronaldo has long been Kelsy’s biggest idol, with the Rangers new boy highlighting the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s influence on young footballers across the world.

He said: “For me, it has always been Cristiano Ronaldo who I’ve idolised because of how much he has inspired young players like me.
“He’s always been someone I’ve looked up to as an idol of mine.
“In terms of strikers, Lukaku and now Haaland. But Cristiano has always been my biggest inspiration.”
Kelsy will hope to follow the example of his attacking role models by making an immediate impact in front of goal for Rangers.
