Wishaw sink Kilsyth Rangers as new gaffer maintains 100 per cent record

David Dunn’s dream start to life in the Wishaw dugout continued on Saturday with a fourth straight win - and now he can’t wait for his first home match in charge.

The player/coach stepped up to take the reins from Mark Daly in December and it couldn’t have gone any better for the Beltane Park side.

Saturday’s 3-0 win at Kilsyth Rangers added to last week’s giant-killing at Beith Juniors in the West of Scotland Cup, as well as away triumphs over Vale of Leven and Vale of Clyde.

This weekend Dunn finally gets to make his management bow on home turf when Ardrossan Winton Rovers

come calling in West of Scotland Conference C and he hopes to keep his stunning start going.

Dunn said: “When I came in we were on a bit of a slide and we were looking over our shoulders, but the last few results have put us right back up the table.

“We went level on points with Kilsyth [in fifth place] and we are right back in the mix at the right end of the table.

“If you’d said that to me a few weeks ago I’d have been over the moon

“Saturday will be the first time I’ve been at home as manager so I’m really looking forward to that.

“It’s been a good start so far but I’ve been in the game long enough to know it’s not going to last forever.

“I’ve been absolutely loving it so far and it will be good to be at home because we’ve not been there since November.

“Every game is difficult in this league and Ardrossan are a good side. They’ll pose us a lot of problems if we don’t keep doing things well.”

Wishaw ran out comfortable winners at Kilsyth with PJ O’Donnell scoring straight from a corner early on before firing home from 25 yards. Andy Duffy completed the scoring, following up his own shot to head home in the 3-0 win.

Dunn added: “It was another huge three points for the club.

“It’s been a very good start but we just need to keep building on it.

“We started really well and we looked very solid as a team. We got another clean sheet as well and it was a very strong team performance.”
