Pupils at a Wishaw primary school are celebrating after achieving a top award from worldwide children’s charity UNICEF.
Kids and staff at Calderbridge Primary School in Coltness were exceptionally proud to have achieved its Silver accreditation award for being a UNICEF Rights Respecting school.
After UNICEF’s visit to the school in September Calderbridge officially became a “Rights Aware School”.
Calderbridge teacher Kayleigh Marshall said: “Our children, staff and community have worked hard to develop a rights ethos within our school and ensure all children feel safe, valued and included.
“We are now working towards our Gold award and are very excited for the next steps of our journey.”
Pupils also spoke of their delight having achieved their award.
Sonny McDonald said: “Being part of a rights respecting school shows diversity.”
Robyn Burnside added: “At our school we treat others how we want to be treated.”
