Two Wishaw cousins who grew up in the chip shop business celebrated recently as they reunited on their old stomping ground for the first time in nearly 30 years.
Maria Rongione and Paola Andreucci grew up in Wishaw together, working for their fathers in their respective town centre chip shops.
Maria's father was Toni and Paola's, Pepi - they ran shops of the same name on Kirk Road and Caledonian Road.
Having emigrated from Picinisco - a small village in the south of Italy - in the 1960s, brothers Toni and Pepi first worked in East Kilbride with family before moving to Wishaw to set up businesses of their own.
Paola and her father emigrated back to Italy in 1992, returning to Wishaw for the first time since just last week.
Maria told Lanarkshire Live : "My Uncle Pepi had three daughters and my dad had me, and we all grew up in the chippy business.
"We went to school locally at St Ignatius and St Aidan's and became a part of the community.
"Since they moved back to Italy in 1992 we have seen each other every year, but we usually go to Italy and see them.
"We always stay in touch, but to have her back in Wishaw where she grew up was really nice.
"It was nice to have her back and show her around the town.
"She really saw a change from when she was last here 30 years ago and had a wee nostalgia trip seeing the town centre and the chippies."
