Wishaw boss David Dunn is boxing clever in a bid to improve his side’s fitness – by taking them to a boxing gym for a workout.
Dunn has teamed up with friend Stevie McMillan at Bravehearts Boxing Gym in Hamilton and says it will work wonders for them as they tackle the West of Scotland League Second Division.
Dunn said: “One of our main sponsors again this year is Bravehearts Boxing Gym, so we’ve gone up there and done a few sessions.
“We went up a couple of Saturdays ago and Stevie took them for a session, and is going to come up and do a few throughout the season.
“It’s something a wee bit different and to be fair, every single one of them said it was outstanding.
“When we broke up they were doing their own training and running, but this is a different kind of thing to that.
“It’s something I’ve done for a long time, training in the morning, and it’s outstanding – it really brings your fitness on.
“It’s something we’re going to push as a club.
“The boys have done very well with their fitness this summer, but last season I don’t think we were fit enough, and at times we lost games because of that.
“But that won’t be happening this season. It’s already quite apparent in the two games we’ve played that our fitness levels were really high, and that we were finishing the games strongly.”
