One of London’s best known fintech bosses Kristo Käärmann, the co-founder of money transfer company Wise, has been fined £350,000 by a City watchdog after an investigation into a tax blunder.
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) found that Käärmann had been “careless” in failing to let it know that he had been previously fined £365,651 by HMRC in 2021 for non-payment of a a capital gains tax liability.
