The Wisconsin Department of Justice Office of School Safety (OSS) and Office of Crime Victim Services (OCVS) have stepped in to provide crucial resources following the tragic school shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin.

Attorney General Josh Kaul expressed his deep sorrow for the students, teachers, staff members, and families affected by the devastating incident. He emphasized the importance of supporting the community in the aftermath of such a traumatic event.

The Office of School Safety, through its Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT), has outlined a series of resources to assist in the recovery process:

  • Assist with reunification and counseling.
  • Minimize the psychological impact of a school critical incident.
  • Provide resources to help stabilize the school community.
  • Work to identify individuals that may require long-term mental health services after a critical incident.
  • Offer support to school administrators and educators.

These measures aim to address the immediate needs of those affected by the shooting and to ensure that the school community receives the necessary support to cope with the aftermath.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice's commitment to providing assistance and resources underscores the importance of coming together as a community during times of crisis. By offering support and guidance, they hope to help the school community navigate through this difficult period and begin the healing process.
