Wipro shares are nearing their record date of June 5 for the much-awaited share buyback worth Rs 15,000 crore, at a premium of more than 24% from the previous closing price.
The company in April had announced the share buyback at Rs 250 per share, marking the first such action announced by the IT major in nearly three years. Wipro's board approved the plan to buy back up to 60 crore shares, representing 5.7% of the total paid-up share capital, for an aggregate amount not exceeding Rs 15,000 crore.
