Oscar-winning stars of Hollywood and the West End, Kate Winslet and Dame Judi Dench, have backed our Winter Survival Appeal in partnership with Comic Relief, calling on Londoners to “come together” and donate generously to “help those in desperate need” this Christmas.
Dame Judi said: “One thing we are good at is coming together in times of crisis and doing what we can to support our neighbours through the toughest times.
"This appeal will give frontline charities the support they need to get more food, baby essentials and mental health support to those looking for help this winter. Every donation counts.”
So far, we have raised £500,000, thanks to a donation from Comic Relief, which will be given out to a select group of charities that will help people struggling with the cost of living crisis.
Winslet called on the public, corporates and philanthropists to give generously. She said: “With so many families at crisis point in London and across the UK, our support is desperately needed.
In numbers

1million children sleeping on the floor or sharing a bed

14.5million people living in poverty

"Just £10 could help provide an incredible 40 meals for families at a localâ¯communityâ¯centre. Please support this much-needed appeal if you can as it will help some of the most vulnerable people get the urgent help they need to get through the next few months.”
