Sanam Harrinanan and Kai Fagan have been announced as the Winter Love Island 2023 winners. The couple came out on top as the ITV2 show returned this evening for its final episode, with the pair taking home the £50,000 cash prize.
Lana Jenkins and Ron Hall had placed second, whilst Samie Elishi and Tom Clare were in third place and Tanya Mahenga and Shaq Muhammad came in fourth.
The winter series, which is only the second of its kind, has been full of drama especially after Casa Amor caused serious chaos for the islanders and it certainly put some relationships to the test.
And now it's all over (until the summer anyway) and the social worker and teacher were the favourite couple according to the public vote, as host Maya Jama revealed that the pair had scooped the prize jackpot.
And before the winners were announced, the four final couples all shared their true feelings for one another after the girls spent a day pampering at the spa and the boys got ready for their last evening in the villa. During the sweet declarations, the newest couple, Sanam and Kai, said they can't wait to be "official" on the outside.
Sanam said: "You charmed me with your smile and melted me with your warm brown eyes. I was hooked by your intelligence, values, kindness and you always manage to make me laugh. You’ve made me realise my worth and I can’t wait for us to one day be official."
Kai added: "My time here has been a dream since I met you. Sanam, you’re one of a kind and I’m so happy to have you in my life because I adore you and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us."
Samie penned a sweet poem for Tom, and he was clearly touched by her words and went on to make a big declaration of his own leaving fans feeling emotional.
Lana and Ron have had quite the journey in the South African villa and Lana admitted that Ron was the person who had been missing in her life.
She said: "Ron, when I walked through the Villa doors and saw your cheeky smile, I knew it was you and only you. There has been something missing in my life and that’s you."
And Ron told Lana: "You’re an angel that never puts a foot wrong and you tick every single box. When I look at you, I feel whole, like my life is complete."
In Tanya's declaration, she praised Shaq for making her feel safe. She said: "I love the way you care so much, your cuddles that make me feel safe, your infectious smile that brightens up my day and most of all your heart of gold."
And he responded: "I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us because no doubt it’s a bright future ahead. I guess what I’m trying to say is, Tan, I love you."
