Households could get as much as £1,200 in Winter Fuel Payments this year as the government revamps the scheme to help people through the cost of living crisis. The Department for Work and Pensions says that people eligible for the payment will see the amount doubled, with £600 possible.
If two people in the same household qualify, they'll both get the money, meaning a total of £1,200. The government estimates that more then eight million eligible households will see the cash boost, BirminghamLive reports.
Most payments are made automatically in November or December, with it being paid by January 13, 2023, at the latest. This winter, you will get from £250 to £600 from this scheme to help you pay your heating bills, including a one-off cost of living top-up.
