New Winter Fuel Payments could see people over State Pension age receive a £300 boost.
People get the allowance to help pay for gas and electric when they need it most during the colder months. The support comes amid shock forecasts from analysts Cornwall Insight that have predicted bills will rise even higher this winter than had been previously thought.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has released updated guidance for millions of older people who will receive an extra £300 one-off Pensioner Cost of Living Payment on top of their Winter Fuel Payment later this year. The DWP has clarified payment amounts for several household scenarios including where someone lives on their own, with a partner over or under 80, or whether either of them receive other benefits.- as The Daily Record reports.
