The Winnipeg Jets got off to a record-setting start to the 2024-2025 NHL season. They went undefeated in their first eight games and were 15-1 after 16 games.

Since then, the Jets have lost 7 out of their last 10 games. The 18-7 Jets have slipped to second place in the competitive Central Division behind the surging Minnesota Wild with the Dallas Stars close behind them.
No one expected the Jets to keep up the pace they started the season with. However, it is concerning that their current losing streak stands at four games. The struggles are defensive and offensive. The Jets have been outscored 15-6 during this four-game skid.
The Winnipeg Jets Are Reeling At The Same Time As Their Competitors Are Surging
The NHL season is long and filled with ebbs and flows. Winnipeg’s problem is that they are struggling at the precise time that Minnesota and Dallas are surging.
Minnesota is riding high on a four-game winning streak, and Dallas won its last two games, one of which was a win over the Jets.
The Next Three Games Will Tell The Tale
The next three games are particularly interesting and could indicate which way the Jets’ fortunes will go. In four days’ time, they are playing three teams at or below .500. Buffalo 11-12-2 and Chicago 8-15-2 are road games on December 5 and 7, and the 11-10-3 Columbus Blue Jackets come to Winnipeg on December 8. The Jets defeated Chicago and Columbus earlier in the season.
While the Jets should go 3-0, scoring more goals is imperative. At their best this season the Jets averaged more than four goals per game. During the current losing streak, they are averaging slightly over one.
