Chelsea are close to appointing Mauricio Pochettino as their new head coach after agreeing a deal with the Argentine, football.london understands.
It comes with the 51-year-old set to takeover from Frank Lampard at the end of this season. Although a contract hasn't yet been signed it is believed that an announcement and completition of the move aren't far away.
Having whittled his way through the candidates, Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital and the new team of directors in place at the club have landed with the former Tottenham boss. It's a move set to ruffle some fetahers both at Chelsea and throughout the league.

Pochettino is one of the most well respected managers across Europe for the work he did in advancing Southampton's style and then taking Spurs to their best ever top-flight finishes. He has also worked with a young squad, a bloated group and through a change of stadium, all things set to come in handy at SW6.
It is also the last piece of news that Spurs fans wanted to hear, coming just days after it was revealed that Julian Nagelsmann wouldn't be making the move from Germany to north London, even more reason for Blues supporters to revel in the latest Pochettino announcement.
Here's how the news went down on social media:
@AlexGoldberg_: WE BACK
@RomfordTipster: Great appointment. Massively overachieved at Spurs. Good man management, attractive playing style, will have the players fit & well drilled for his pressing style, tactician, track record of improving young players. Now he has the tools and backing to build a squad. Welcome Poch
@_livedell: Chelsea will be great again. Trust the process.
@18jc2__: Welcome gaffer, let’s get this great club back on track
@Gracie_M1984: I will back him 100% I know he can't work miracles straight away but he's certainly experienced and I'm prepared to 'Trust the process' with him in charge
@_flemzeey: I initially don't like the idea of pochettino but he makes perfect sense for Chelsea right.. Chelsea don't need a great tactician to win EPL.. I doubt we can actually find anyone that can actually go H2H with Pep tactically for the league.. Just get a better man manager like Poch
@BluMoses: No doubt he will win the Premier League in the next two seasons. Welcome to Chelsea Mauricio Pochettino
@Whyiize1: It's going to feel good, taunting Tottenham fans with the Chelsea trophies Pochettino will win. The league title especially
@LDNFootbalI: A new era begins…
@samiichels: WE ARE COOKING…PREM AINT READY
