Notts County have retained the services of Aaron Nemane with the wing-back signing a new two-year contract with the club as Luke Williams builds a squad ready for their EFL return. The 25-year-old scored three goals in 40 appearances last season and was a key component of Williams’ side as they won promotion from the National League via the play-offs.
The former Manchester City trainee moved to Meadow Lane in the summer of 2021 following a stint with Torquay, which came after short spells outside of England with Rangers, Go Ahead Eagles and R Union Tubize-Braine.
The club have been filtering through the news of new contracts across the summer, with key figures such as Sam Slocombe, Connell Rawlinson, Jim O’Brien and Kyle Cameron all committing to new deals as well as Nemane.

A statement from club directors and Luke Williams read: “In Aaron’s time at the club, he’s gone from a player capable of producing great moments to one who can make a big impact from the first minute to the last.
“His concentration, game-understanding and self-belief have all come on a long way, resulting in a brilliant 2022-23 season capped by sensational performances in our play-off campaign.
“As his influence on the team has grown, we’ve seen opponents pay more and more attention to him and he has consistently shown he can rise to the challenge. We also feel Aaron has unique characteristics – he’s incredibly quick and, with his low centre of gravity and close control, extremely elusive.
“At 25, we feel he can still improve a lot and we’re very excited to give him the platform to realise his immense potential. On top of all that, Aaron’s a much-loved character and a hugely positive presence. All things considered, he’s a very valuable member of the squad.”
Retaining a strong core of players from last season’s team was important for Williams as he integrates new additions into the club, implementing his playing philosophy which served Notts well last term.
